“I’m A Boss (Remix) (Feat. T.I., Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Birdman, & Swizz Beatz)” by Meek Mill

Just when “I’m A Boss” was beginning to get repetitive as hell and starting to become annoying to the ears, MMG had to go and do an official remix and release something like this. Every feature on the track goes in, especially a real nice resurgence by T.I. to open it up as well as Tunechi as always. I will even include DJ Khaled in this with the two seconds of banter he drops in the beginning of the track…it’s all deadly. Just some rap goodness for your hopefully leisurely Wednesday night.

P.S. RIP Heavy D, “Now That We Found Love” is one of the greats. If you disagree I suggest you watch this

“Top Down” by Nas (Prod. Swizz Beats)

Fresh on Campus

I never really was much of a video gamer growing up. But then, freshman year I discovered the wonders of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City. The unmastered version of this track was in the game and I spent many an afternoon rollin around Liberty City causing ruckus, bopping my head to it.

My associations between the game and this track are so strong that it might actually be dangerous for the people around me… L2 R2… triangle…

Swizz just released the final, mastered version of this track as part of his weekly Monster Monday release.

“Can A Drummer Get Some?” by Travis Barker ft. Swizz Beatz, The Game, Lil’ Wayne & Rick Ross

Fresh on Campus

I’ve heard Travis Barker do some remixes to other hip-hop tracks before, but this song is originally written for Travis’ heavy-hitting drum lines and it sounds oh so sweet. I can’t wait to hear more from this project.

Shouts to Chinup Music.

The Professor’s Top 10 of ’10

Picking your top 10 favorite songs is like picking your top 10 favorite friends. Its kinda uncomfortable because you know there are so many more you want to include. They are all unique and have special meaning to you. And you’re probably going to realize you left one out once you finish the list.

Nevertheless, the Dean and I have both undertaken the challenge. I’m posting my favorites today, The Dean is posting his tomorrow, and then on Friday, we’ll post the most popular songs of 2010 overall. Feel free to hop in the comments and offer feedback.

Without further ado, my number 10:

10. “Real Estate” by Wiz Khalifa – Mr. Khalifa had a pretty sweet run this year. He was able to increase his mainstream appeal while simultaneously maintaining his hip-hop fan base. Definitely not an easy transition when you’re an artist whose career has been based on grassroots support. For that, he has earned my respect and the first spot on the countdown.

9. “Chip Off The Block” by Machine Gun Kelly – Maybe I’m partial because I know the kid, but I feel like MGK is not getting enough shine for how talented of a rapper he is. This was a big year for him, with a feature on MTV and cosign from Big Sean. “Chip Off the Block” showcases his talent and potential. Plus its a great track for pregaming on nights when you’re tryna get buck.

8. “Supa Dupa Lemonade” by Big Sean – Yah I know this was Gucci Mane’s track first, but I could barely remember that song once I heard this. This song put Big Sean on the map for me and a lot of other people and remains one of my all-time favorite lyrical pieces. Sean goes hard from start to finish. Also check out “Too Fake” ft Chiddy Bang.

7. “Show Goes On” by Lupe Fiasco – Despite some woes with the label, Lupe dropped a few golden tracks on us this year as a teaser for what’s in store in 2011. This was one of the most popular posts on the site according to the thumb ratings (we check those!) and I can see why.

6. “Over” by Drake – As much as the media fawned over Kanye’s album this year, I think Drake’s Thank Me Later was the most impressive. It’s hard to believe that that was his first studio album when you consider how much swagger he carries and attention he attracts. “Over” was the first single released from that album and was one of my favorite songs this summer. Other TML notables include Unforgettable, Miss Me and Up All Night. Plus his “9AM in Dallas” freestyle is absolutely filthy.

“Start it Up” by Lloyd Banks feat. Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie, Fabolous

G.O.O.D. Music and G-Unit collab for a track off Lloyd Banks “The Hunger for More Part 2″ and to my surprise make this fire. Kanye and Fabo have a little above mediocore verses and the rest of the crew is nothing special, but this beat is FIREEE. A car bumper to the max, these synths are addiciting as hell. Only thing I would have liked to have seen is better use of R Les, as he would have killed a verse on this one either singing or rapping, you know you’ve seen his “making of” YouTubes, the guy is the real deal. Also I’m pretty sure but have not received a confirmation that he is the mastermind behind this production. If so, this is the kind of fire I expect from R-Les. If not and this beat is Swizz Beatz I will be devastated. Like honestly I am already jealous enough that the dude wifed/knocked up Alicia Keys and runs shit for I have no idea what reason. The only thing I had on him was that his beats were garbarge, so if suddenly R-Les gave him his skills it might as well be the apocalypse, 2012 is for real.

“It’s Gucci Time (prod. Swizz Beatz)” by Gucci Mane [Video]

This isn’t a good video. Just watch at :24 seconds to see what Gucci Mane is wearing. Very strange.
