“Billy Crystal” by Yelawolf ft. Rock City

I definitely have not payed much attention to the ridiculous hype that has been given to Yelawolf, but now I am starting to listen. This dude is definitely an interesting character and brings an unique perspective to the game. I am beginning to think that there is something special about Yela but I can’t put my finger on it yet, I’ll make sure to let you know when I do.

Also my favorite group from the V.I. Rock City are on the hook making some great incoherent noises, good shit. I wonder how that conversation went down:

Rock City: Whats good Yela so you want us to do a verse on this one?
Yelawolf: Nah
Rock City: Oh alright, so you want us to write the hook?
Yelawolf: Yes but no, I don’t want you to use words
Rock City: What the hell do you mean “use no words”? What the hell do you want us to do? Why are we even here if you don’t want us to do anything?
Yelawolf: Well, there is one thing you could do….

“Hold Yuh (Fast Food Megamix)” by Gyptian (Feat. Nicki Minaj & Ricky Blaze)

Credit to Ryan for this one. This is a fresh megamix to Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh” because I had to find an excuse to post this. I just realized recently that I love island music and this song is a great summer jam. This song also features a dope verse by the always interesting Nicki Minaj. This song is a summer must.

For those who are Rock City fans I’m also going to post a bonus, older remix that these dudes did to this ish which is equally dope.

“2getha” by Rock City

These dudes have been on my radar for a while now. While it seems like their songs are hit or miss, this is definitely a jam. The beat and hook are catchy and they’re from St. Thomas so they got that island thing going for them in the vocals. Anyways it is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a good time on a Saturday night.

"Boyz" by M.I.A. featuring Akon and Rock City

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what qualities it takes for a song to feel like a solid spring weather jam. Everyone knows what kind of music I’m talking about right?

Like every year when the birds start chirping and the shorts and sun dresses start coming out on campus there is this special sort of feel-good music that comes out that really captures that essence and bottles it up. Like, I’m sure you have a song where every time it comes on you’re like “OMG, spring break 2007!” or something like that. It’s usually something that’s memorable, catchy and up-beat.

But I digress. Just like her previous hit single “Paper Planes” M.I.A. comes up with another catchy spring jam that’ll be playing on college quads across the nation in no time.
