“Crush On You” by New Boyz

Another poppy, up-beat track from New Boyz. Gotta love their consistency.

This is only kinda related to the New Boyz but it’s something I’ve been needing to get off my chest. It’s a situation that is hard for some people to talk about and tends to cause a lot of emotional stress whenever its brought up, but here it goes:

Being a dorky white person and wiggling your torso while wildly moving your arms and legs does not count as Jerkin or Doin the Dougie or the Stanky Leg. Can we clear that up please? I’m so sick of white people getting all excited when one of their friends starts wiggling around to a hip-hop song like “Oh gee willickers! Suzie is doing that dougie dance!”

All of those dances are about soul, about flow, about gettin into it and gettin DOWN. If you’re doing it correctly, your body parts will move in ways you’re not used to them moving. But don’t be alarmed, that’s okay! If you want me to teach you how to doguie, come to the next party at the Af-Am house or watch these videos that I picked out for you: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

I’m not saying its impossible, and with enough practice, hard work and flow, even your friend Suzie can learn how to Dougie. Class dismissed.

“Call Me Dougie” by New Boyz ft. Chris Brown

“Teach Me How to Jerk” (which we posted earlier) is still one of my all time favorite high-energy songs. I watched the video for that track like 90000000 times, studying the choreography and watching YouTube tutorials to get the full experience.

And so of course I recognized “the Dougie” in this song title from another west coast pop-rap group, New Boyz. Dance instructions can be found here. Get it.
