R.I.P. Nate Dogg

I’m gonna miss you Nate Dogg. Before there was T-Pain or Akon you were hip-hop’s go-to hook man. When I was back in seventh and eighth grade doing my thing with the ladies at Teen Center I would be lying if I didn’t say I took for granted your vocal abilities that collaborated with the likes of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Ludacris, and 50 Cent. You were killing it and I just didn’t understand. But when I grew up and saw the likes of Akon and T-Pain who on a daily basis take advantage of the fact they can make a chart-topping song by singing four lines, I realized I had made a mistake. Not to take away from Akon and T-Pain who I totally respect as artists, but Nate Dogg made it cool to sing in hip-hop at a time where the genre was at it’s toughest. He made it ok to spark a light in a subject that was full of darkness. Before you know where your’re going you need to know where you are coming from. So to all the established hook-men of today and all you up-and-comers take a second of your day to reflect on the career of Nate Dogg and what he has done to better hip-hop. R.I.P. Nate Dogg, you will be missed.

“Where I’m At” by Llyod Banks ft. Eminem

Fresh on Campus

Sorry for the lack of posts. Shit’s been hectic with the pre-Thanksgiving workload.

Here’s some fire from Eminem and Llyod Banks. It’s the bonus track from Llyod Bank’s Hunger for More Part 2, available on iTunes. Eminem is back on his paranoid, angry, jaded lover shit and then Llyod Banks comes in and mellows the track out a little bit. Banks has been pumping out some straight hits lately and keeping G-Unit afloat in the process.

“Christian Dior Denim Flow” by Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks, & Ryan Leslie [Extended Version]

Last week’s G.O.O.D. Friday drop gets some extended verses. The G.O.O.D. Friday releases have been kinda hit or miss so far, despite all of the big names Kanye was able to recruit for them. But this one is a hit for sure.

“Start it Up” by Lloyd Banks feat. Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie, Fabolous

G.O.O.D. Music and G-Unit collab for a track off Lloyd Banks “The Hunger for More Part 2″ and to my surprise make this fire. Kanye and Fabo have a little above mediocore verses and the rest of the crew is nothing special, but this beat is FIREEE. A car bumper to the max, these synths are addiciting as hell. Only thing I would have liked to have seen is better use of R Les, as he would have killed a verse on this one either singing or rapping, you know you’ve seen his “making of” YouTubes, the guy is the real deal. Also I’m pretty sure but have not received a confirmation that he is the mastermind behind this production. If so, this is the kind of fire I expect from R-Les. If not and this beat is Swizz Beatz I will be devastated. Like honestly I am already jealous enough that the dude wifed/knocked up Alicia Keys and runs shit for I have no idea what reason. The only thing I had on him was that his beats were garbarge, so if suddenly R-Les gave him his skills it might as well be the apocalypse, 2012 is for real.

“Beamer, Benz or Bentley Remix” by Lloyd Banks ft. Jadakiss, Ludacris, Yo Gotti & The-Dream

Fresh on Campus

This is the remix that the original song was waiting for. The original beat was dope but a little on the simple side and this track touches it up a little to add some depth. Unfortunately, the bass doesn’t seem to be hitting as low down as it did on the original version. Still, a nice track with a star-studded cast that you should definitely add to your collection.

PS: I would have posted this a few hours ago but something weird was going on with our domain name when we were trying to switch it and I couldn’t access the site. I don’t know if other people were having that problem but if so, I apologize.

Our legal team was finally able to get that dot-com, yeeeh bitch. Unlike our last move, all the old traffic should redirect so we won’t leave anyone behind.
