Mike Stud’s brand new visuals from A Toast to Tommy‘s track “Happy Ending” is probably one of his best yet. With some unbelievable direction by Jon Kilmer who has been killing it recently, the two are able to paint some chilling and powerful imagery of the lives of three people and the result is great. The track is also real dope with a real nice use of a MIKA sample. Definitely some must see visuals right here and also check out the download below

Hope everyone is having a smooth transition back into second semester even though I know it is atrocious. Just wanted to keep all my FOC soldiers in the loop as to what has been going on this past week and the absence of posts. This past week I have unfortunately ran into some health issues which has distracted me from doing my job, that is, to provide you the freshest music on a daily basis. I will let you all know I will be OK but I have to have surgery this afternoon which will put me out of commission for a couple days but I as well as FOC will be back better than when I come back let me tell you. I got a bunch of things up my sleeve that I am very excited to share with you once they are finalized but you can be sure that FOC is coming back this semester on some other shit…no doubt.

What’s gucci everybody? This week’s TT is on that high energy ish with some EDM bangers that will keep you going and great for getting ‘Toned up in the gym. With 2 new Avicii bangers, one collab with the multi-talented NERVO twins and the other sounding incredibly dope (although I have some skepticism as to the legitimacy of this actually being a Avicii and Taio Cruz track but thats OK). Besides some insanely cool remixes and mashes of today’s hottest tracks I have an alternate download for some David Guetta new new featuring Chris Brown that is some damn Fire and the best song to come out of 2012 yet. Techno Tuesday (Jan 17th) by Fresh On Campus

Cudi, one of the headliners of the Heatwave Festival in South Australia two days ago debuted the full version of his upcoming single, “Teleport 2 Me” and although this is obviously not CDQ it sounds dope as hell and I can’t wait for the official release of the single. Cudi also announced today that he is delaying the release of his upcoming album, WZRD from January 30 to February 28 which is a bummer but I think is a power move in building more and more hype for this project for his fans and it is a smart marketing move for Scott. Looking forward to hearing more tracks from the project and I am keeping my fingers crossed and keeping hope that it will be worth the wait.

To be honest I had no idea who Michael Francis was prior to hearing this track but after one listen I immediately loved this guy. Michael takes one of the most underrated 90′s R&B tracks as well as one of my favorite and puts a little electro modern spin on it…how can I deny that? His vocals work perfectly with the innovative production of Cito On The Beat, making this track an absolute banger. I hope this dude pulls out more of these heaters and make sure you get an advanced copy of his upcoming Cold Heart Chronicles EP here

Previously a collab with Chi-Town MC Jon James, this now solo version is a high energy lighter track that shows off Rocky’s persona in a different light but still bangs. Looking forward to hearing more from this dude and hearing about his highly-anticipated tour kicking off on January 26.

Celebration by Fresh On Campus

Sorry to be a minute late on this guy but this video is a must-post. Collin does what he does best to the HNL on this track in which he mashes Adele’s “Someone Like You,” Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away,” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love” in seamless and flawless fashion. All of Collin’s renditions are just so damn smooth and I feel like that voice can crush any song regardless. Jon Kilmer, a household name now in directing dope videos, does a great job on these visuals that accompany an awesome track.

At first glance this cover or Rozay and Drizzy’s track by Mr. Posner probably doesn’t seem like it would work, but this thing works in an awesome way. Blackbear croons over the Teflon Don’s hard verse and Mike creatively spices up Drizzy’s with the addition of some keys and his usual unique vocals. Great play by them also to do away with French Montana’s verse, ish is bougie as hell.

While Timeflies’ first Timeflies Tuesday of 2012 is technically the best one they’ve done this year, this track is definitely up there in my top three I think. Res is an unbelievably talented producer the way he can consistently come up with creative remixes to dope tracks. This week he makes a sick remix to Jay Sean and Nicki Minaj’s “2012″ that is accompanied and works perfectly with Cal’s smooth vocals. This week’s set is lacking in number of tracks but makes up in actual time of unreal techno that is played. This week I have all of the set’s from Avicii’s NYE show at Pier 94 which was epic as hell to say the least. Arty and Cazzette absolutely killed it as well and Swanky Tunes did their thang. 10. “Not Over You” by Gavin DeGraw

Did I start this countdown off with a track coming way out of left field? Yes. Does that mean I don’t absolutely love this song and I am not afraid to say it? Absolutely not. Like I said this is my personal opinion and in my opinion my boy Gavin absolutely did his thing in pursuit for a comeback via this track. Co-written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, “Not Over You” is the quintessential “Boner Jam”: catchy chorus, great melody, and has Top 40 written all over it. Unfortunately, this track is not getting the love it deserves because you have everybody “Moving Like Jagger” and taking up all the spotlight from this song which is absolute Horse Shit. You can say what you want about my first pick because I know it is controversial because I have never even mentioned it on the site but it looked as though this track was going to come and go without getting the recognition it deserved and I couldn’t let that happen. To quote myself during a Taylor Swift concert in London, “I love this shit!”

9. “Motivation (Remix)” by Kelly Rowland Feat. Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Fabolous, & Busta Rhymes/”Sure Thing (Remix)” by Miguel Feat. Pusha T

Helll yeah boi these tracks are my joints right here. First off, if you didn’t find yourself loving “Motivation” as your guilty pleasure then we got problems. My girl Kelly absolutely went in with the sexy on this one, showing up her peer Beyonce in both vocals, appeal, and overall swag and showing her up real nice. Also you got to show love to the producers of the track Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, because this production is on point. If I ever meet those dudes I’m going to give them a serious dap for bringing back Mainstream R&B back to it’s glory days of the Late 90′s and Early 00′s with a production so smooth it could even make Ginuwine and Usher feel awkward in comparison. And note I have put the Remix because Mr. Steal Your Girl, Busta, and Fab take the track to the HNL and make it one of the hottest R&B tracks of the year and officially putting Ms. Rowland back on the map. I also got to talk about my man Miguel because I know he has spoken out about being snubbed out of Grammy Nominations this year an the man has a point. I mean theres a reason why this track is the top played song on my iTunes (Yes I admit it and I don’t hate it). Miguel has a unique smooth sound along with the production on this track makes for pure listening bliss. It is like you can hear the emotional pain and anguish in his crooning which you really can’t hear in many artists of today. Isn’t that what the “B” in R&B is all about? Also Pusha T absolutely kills it on his verse on the remix and is probably one of the most underrated verses of the year. R&B is making a powerful coming in music right now, primarily lead by artists such as Kelly and Miguel but directed into a new frontier as I will explain later on in the countdown.

8. “Freaks and Geeks”/”Bonfire” by Childish Gambino

I absolutely love this dude. Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino is straight killing it in life right now, whether it’s writing for 30 Rock or starring in Community or releasing music as Childish Gambino. To put in perspective what he as accomplished as a rapper given all of his other endeavors is absolutely amazing. 2011 was a huge year for Donald releasing the absolute banger “Freaks in Geeks” this past spring establishing himself as an elite master of witty and clever hard hitting punchlines that made Weezy even seem unoriginal (Sorry Weezy the whole jail thing really did a number on ya…I tried to enjoy Tha Carter IV I really did). He even went head to head with Drizzy in the release of his first album Camp which did surprisingly well for an up-and-coming artist (Mind you he is balancing dominating three spectrums of our Popular Culture, not the easiest thing in the world). I love Childish because he is a real artist, something becoming more prevalent in music but not as much as it should. He know exactly who he is and what he is all about and that is what he talks about in his songs, I swear he talks more about why people hate on him than actually talking about his success, something you never hear rappers of today talk about unless you’re Eminem in the final battle in 8 Mile. Does that make him a pessimist or just a realist? I’m not sure and as far as am concerned it doesn’t matter. As long as he keeps putting out clever and catchy rap songs and real lyrics he’ll be just fine and push the rap game into a direction it has yet to see. I mean the guy was in Forbes Magazine’s “Top 30 Under 30,” he’s going to be alright and I don’t hate it.

7. “We Found Love” by Rihanna

This song is so damn good. Calvin Harris made the perfect beat that is so impossibly Poppy but appeals to EDM scene just the same and Rihanna is so damn likable and her vocals are irresistible. Rihanna successfully made the perfect party track on this one…dude’s AND chicks be getting loose and crazy to this one. Rihanna was the hottest female artist of the year and this track is the reason why. That’s pretty much all I have to say about this track but I don’t think I have much reason to say anything else…this track is unreal.

6. “Give Me Everything” by Pitbull Feat. Ne-Yo & Nayer

I distinctly remember the first time I heard this song: It was on my birthday and I was in an apartment in Barcelona pre-gaming to see Afrojack DJ at my favorite club in the world Opium Mar right on the beach at Port Olympico. The moment I heard this song I knew it was something special and needless to say that ended up being the best night of my life. Aside from the fact that this track was a huge commercial success and you probably are just becoming more accepting to listen to it again after it was rotated like crazy over the radio but you can’t deny that this song absolutely killed. My man and one of my favorite DJ’s in the world Afrojack absolutely did his thing on the production on this making a sick Electro-pop track that appealed to the masses while staying somewhat true to his own form. Ne-Yo crushes the chorus (How convincing is he when he tells you to “grab somebody sexy and tell them hey”? Oh hell yeah he sounds like that shit actually works)T and Pitbull actually does a nice job on the bridges (Where is Nayer exactly on this track?) One of the first songs this year showing the success to be had bridging the gap between EDM and Mainstream music, this track was a universal chart-topper and for good reason. As I wrote as my thesis for my final paper for my Latin Music class this semester, Pitbull has found a unique niche in American Mainstream music that has allowed him to change his sound and persona to the popular music of the times allowing him to remain relevant in American culture. Thus, Pitbull is not going anywhere anytime soon and I bet you we’ll be seeing a lot of tracks that are carbon copies of “Give Me Everything” hit the Top 40 charts in 2012.

5. “All of The Lights (Remix)” by Kanye West feat. Lil Wayne, Big Sean, & Drake

Oh damn this was that shit right hurr. The thing that makes this track so banging is that it had the perfect balance of quality and quanity: high quality artists killin unreal verses. Weezy, Big Sean, and especially Drizzy…all these dudes just straight banggg. Also this track was notable as it was Drake’s debut into 2011 and in a huge way. That verse was something serious…absolutely loved it and I love him as you will see later on in the countdown.

4. “Ni**as in Paris” by Jay-Z & Kanye West

This shit was cray…nuff said. Dudes expanded their egos with banger tracks and it paid off in a huge way. Rapping about being bosses and running the world is pretty dope isnt it? Also Hov had an exceptionally good verse so that was nice to see.

3. “I’m On One” by DJ Khaled Feat. Drake, Rick Ross, & Lil Wayne

By far the best hook of the year, similar to the “All of The Lights (Remix)” just a high quantity of high quality rappers absolutely killing it on their verses. “I walk around the club…fuck everybody.” You are lying to yourself if you didn’t yell that line out when this song was on while you belligerently drunk at least 30 times.

2. “The Morning”/Essentially All of House of Balloons by The Weeknd

2011 was the year of the Weeknd. By himself revitalizing the R&B genre this year I absolutely love this dude. His sound and the auroa around his music and production are so impossibly unique and needs to be applauded. Like DJ Khaled said, he da best.

1. The Entire Take Care Album Plus The Other Stuff Drake Dropped This Year

You had to of known this one was coming. Literally every track this year from “Dreams Money Can Buy” to “Marvin’s Room” to “Club Paradise” was groundbreaking in it’s own right and 2011 was a much needed year for Aubrey to shift in his image in a way that is most true to him as well as appealing to his fans. I do have an unbelievably bias towards Drake and at this point he would have to do something pretty horacious to get me off this wagon. I love him so much and you should too.

Oh damn ya’ll you know what time it is: The Dean’s Official List of the Top Ten Songs of 2011. However because I thought that one list for an entire year really couldn’t do it justice, I have decided to split up my rankings into another category of the Techno Tuesday-Sponsored Top Ten Techno songs of 2011.

While last year it literally took me three days of continuing process of elimination, creating multiple playlists and slimming my potential candidates for best songs of the year one by one in a gruesome process. This year however I came up with an efficient as well as the same if not more thoughtful plan to banging out these lists: for lack of better, less corny words I essentially went with my gut with these picks. Of course I did my standard “Start at 1/1/2011 on your iTunes and proceed to scan upward” process of creating an entirely massive playlist of the most notable songs of this past year, but from there as opposed to last year it was fairly easy to narrow the list down to ten.

Actually arranging the ten into order is a completely different story, that shit is hard as hell and I could easily be convinced and argued into switching a couple of these around, but at a certain point I had to stand my ground as to where all of these tracks go. Also probably the most important thing to consider when looking at these lists is that these are my personal picks for the top songs of the year based on the criteria I use and have made up in my head to judge every track I post on FOC as well as every track that I have ever come across. If you want an “Official” list of the most qualified songs of the year google the Associated Press or the New York Times I am sure they have fantastic established and rational criteria for their picks. This is not how FOC rolls, my picks are not based on sales or chart rankings but essentially what sounds good to my ears and as Will Ferrel says, “get the people going,” because I know that in your heart of hearts you feel the same.

With that being said, let’s get this countdown started shall we. Note: EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music

10. “Sun & Moon (Original Edit) (Feat. Richard Bedford)” by Above & Beyond
Damn these dudes opened my eyes this past year. It was only around two or three years ago where I really started to immerse myself in the whole electro scene. From there I started primarily listening to that Cascada-esque “David Guetta Happy Shit” vocal house that was probably being played on z100 and since then have made great strides in my appreciation and love for all spheres and spectrums of EDM. This past Winter/Fall I started listening to Trance and it was mainly because of these guys. Tracks like “Sun & Moon” are groundbreaking because even though they fall into the Trance genre and sound, Above & Beyond added vocals to seamlessly make it appealing to the younger American generations who are absolutely eating up the vocal house genre (Being crushed by Avicii which we will talk about later). I chose this track not just because Richard Bedford’s haunting vocals with Above & Beyond’s production absolutely crushed it but also because this track opened my eyes to another spectrum of EDM and a little sneak peek of what’s to come in the current explosion of Electro in the USA. If you are a fan of Trance definitely check out Myron & Shane’s remix to Jessie J’s “Domino” on this week’s Techno Tuesday…shit is bomb and shouts to my man Bossylicious for the looks on that one.

9. “Jagger Bomb”/”Yacht Week In America” by 3LAU & “Vamos A Los Levels” by The Friendly Giant
Just when I thought the Mash-Up genre was on it’s last leg…I was only kinda right. With the fall of the “GirlTalk-esque” mashup, and the constant flow of EDM influencing American Culture nonetheless the college party scene, 2011 saw the rise of the Electro-House Mash-Up DJ in a huge way. My main man 3LAU had a HUGE year with the likes of “Jagger Bomb” catapulting him onto the scene as well as “Yacht Week In America” becoming one of my anthems this summer and probably my favorite of his tracks. The Friendly Giant did their thing as well this year with “Vamos A Los Levels” which is the quintessential party banger, shit just get’s you going. Add names like Sex Ray Vision, Yoni, Jeff Rowe, DJ Trademark, and you literally have yourself a party, and in 2011 possibly one of the best parties of the year. The Electro-House Mash-Up DJ’s look like there not going anywhere in 2012 and as long as the US crushes EDM and the idea of partying is still cool, then I don’t see any reason why it should.

8. “Lights (Bassnectar Remix)” by Ellie Goulding
All year I have said how hesitant I have been in accepting Dupstep as a growing and popular genre but as 2011 comes to a close I can’t deny it anymore…Dubstep did it’s thing this year. It managed to not only gain a crazy following along the likes of DJ’s like Skrillex and Nero but also hit up Mainstream in ways I could never imagine (On Christmas Night NBC Sports played Dubstep during the Packers-Bears Game in a segment comparing the Passing Yard totals for the top quarterbacks this year…who knew Dubstep was the appropriate genre for that?) With the lovely Ellie Goulding providing the vocals, Bassnectar’s remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” was an absolute banger, my favorite Dubstep track of the year with Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” a close second, as well as Bassnectar’s track being a great example of exactly how mainstream Dubstep can be. However despite all this nice talk about the genre I personally have some issues with this womp-womp genre especially the harder stuff…I just don’t really get the appeal. Will I ever give Dubstep the credit it deserves? probably not, but at least I’m self aware of my ignorance.

7.”Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Avicii Remix)”/Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Swedish House Mafia Remix)” by Coldplay
While the original Coldplay track was already a banger, the best DJ’s in the game took it upon themselves to take this track to the HNL and one of EDM’s best tracks of the year. Both Avicii and SHM took their own separate and unique approaches to make the track better by highlighting in their opinion its best attributes while at the same time maintaining both artists’ signature sounds. Besides both being from Sweden, what these artists also have in common is that they have perfected the essentials of house music: killer vocals mixed with an absolute banger drop, which is clear in both versions of this track. Both were so impossibly good in their own right so they are sharing the title of number 6 on my chart here, sorry I’m not sorry

6.”Pressure (Alesso Remix)” by Nadia Ali, Starkiller, & Alex Kenji
While Avicii and SHM had monster years in 2011, Alesso was not far behind. With tracks like “Pressure,” “Good Love” and “Calling” a collab with SHM’s Sebastian Ingrosso, this 19 year-old DJ produced some of the most popular tracks of the year and earned his spot and title as the “Next Big Thing” in EDM. I chose Alesso’s “Pressure” remix because the vocals are so damn good and the production is so epic with that Alesso’s unique sound. I have a crazy theory that Alesso’s style of house has rubbed off on the likes of Avicii (Listen to Alesso’s ish and then listen to some of Avicii’s new tracks performed in his set at the Armory in DC and you’ll see what I mean). Anyways the kid is only 19 meaning that their is a crazy bright future ahead for Alesso, don’t be suprised if you see him make a huge jump in DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s…just sayin.

5. “Buy My Love (Fareoh Remix)” by Wynter Gordon
I’m going to call it now, Fareoh is a name you will be hearing a lot of in 2012. Taking a page out of Avicii’s book, Fareoh is utilizes Wynter Gordon’s sexy vocals on his catchy as hell production that feels so damn good. The track is an absolute banger in every sense of the word. This is just a great track straight up. If you have heard the track you know what I’m talking about and if you haven’t you’re missing out big time. Hopefully Fareoh keeps doing his thing next year and will become the next big-name DJ out of the USA since Kaskade…that would be nice and also is entirely possible just watch.

4. “Party Rock Anthem (Sex Ray Vision Remix)” by LMFAO
At this point in the year the whole LMFAO and “Party Rock Anthem” thing might be a little too repetitive to want to hear, but you gotta admit that at the pinnacle of this track this shit was soooo dope. Like wasn’t it #1 on iTunes for an aggressively long time? Like “Buy My Love,” the chorus was so damn catchy you can’t resist it. You have to sing it, and if you can’t sing it you whistle. I chose the Sex Ray Vision remix for two reasons: 1, I personally think these guys killed the production for the track more so than LMFAO, and 2. Sex Ray Vision also had a monster year and are going to keep killing it in the Electro-Pop Genre as well as furthering the trek of the EDM Mash-Up DJ. Remixed or not this track was without a doubt a milestone in the year 2011 and worthy to be high on this list.

3. “Feel So Close”/”Bounce” by Calvin Harris
To say that Calvin Harris has a huge year in 2011 is an understatement. The dude crushed the electro-dance scene, then crushed the American Mainstream, and then help solidify the bridge between the two. First off, the guy crushed his track “Bounce,” an anthem during the early Summer days and a hit in both the EDM and mainstream spheres. He also partially revitalized the career of the struggling Kelis. Then, Rihanna asks for his skills in producing “We Found Love” and we all know how that turned out…arguably the song of the year. Please note that I consider that track more Pop than Electro and thus is the reason you don’t see it on THIS list… please don’t hurt me. “Feel So Close” really did it for me though. Calvin Harris did an unbelievable job with the vocals that worked so well with the classic Calvin Harris sound. Calvin Harris has really outdone himself when it comes to making strides in creating dance tracks…dude has taking his career to the HNL and 2011 definitely proves it.

2. “Save The World Tonight” by Swedish House Mafia
Remember the 18,000 versions of this track I posted on FOC? Months before it’s official release every time a break through occured regarding this song I was on top of that ish that white on rice…and now you know why. SHM absolutely killed it this year playing the first ever sold-out DJ show in MSG, an historic moment for EDM and this song is a major reason why. When I heard this track for the first time I was sure it was the best techno song I had ever heard. John Martin had the perfect vocals on top of the perfect production, with the perfect bridge over the perfect buildup and of course that chorus…what is there to really say about it? Steve, Ax, and Sebastian went H.A.M. on attempting to make the perfect house track and they came as close as anyone has in recent years to do it, it is almost heavenly. The track is so happy and so positive when it’s played it’s like it brings out the best in the people, it just has that kind of positive impact.

1. “Levels” by Avicii
Well you had to have known this was coming. In the EDM world, this was Avicii’s year. EDM has been pushed into the American mainstream and into the minds of younger generations in large part by Mr. Berg (See “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida and “Collide” by Leona Lewis) and that deserves to be noted as one hell of an accomplishment. While “Fade Into Darkness” had a stellar year with it’s upbeat production and killer vocals that was on a level above the rest it still was dusted by one song, the EDM song of the year. “Levels” was not only the EDM anthem of the US, but became a Universal anthem and a Global phenomenon. People all over the world can recite that melody and that Etta James’ chorus, damn the power of a catchy track…bringing the entire world together through techno…I love it. “Levels” is not only a testament to Avicii as the rising heir to the throne of House but also a testament to how globally powerful a following EDM has grown in 2011…shit is getting massive son and we’ve only seen the beginning.

This weeks TT is technically also the New Year’s Rendition but since I have my Dean’s New Year Special post on Thursday I didn’t think it was absolutely necessary to shower Techno Tuesday with NYE love just yet. Anyway, this week contains a MASSIVE set of fire that I am not sure ya’ll are ready for. So many damn Vocal Progessive House bangers it’s just not OK. Not exactly many tracks from any big names (Besides Skrillex’s Official “Breathe” track now called “Summit” with Ellie Goulding) but are still so damn good and together make up for good times all around and honestly the best NYE pregame set on the internet…that’s right I said it. Get ready because this set is on some other ish.

Well, with Abel Tesfaye dropping the final mixtape Echoes of Silence of his trilogy, it is safe to say that 2011 was the year of the Weeknd. Yet to open up this bad boy but it is hard to say that it is not going to be absolutely bomb. Kicking off with House of Balloons which in my opinion was the best mixtape of the year, Abel has taken the year 2011 to completely revolutionize and re-jump the genre that is R&B with his unique and unbelievably vocals backed up by his groundbreaking production and overall aura that surrounds his music. That is all I will say for now but best believe you’ll hear more of my two cents regarding the Weeknd on the annual Dean’s Top Ten Songs of 2011 list coming December 29th, 2011…that’s right I said it get ready.

Love G-Eazy’s delivery and whole persona he conveys on his songs as it goes real well with the production. This single art is also hilarious mimicking the movie poster, not going to lie.

Real dope chill track that sounds more like Kid Cudi featuring The Far East Movement and Chip Tha Ripper than vice versa but it’s all good. I am real stoked for Kid Cudi to get back on top of his game, especially now with HBO “How To Make It In America” so he has absolutely no excuse not to go in on his ish in regards to the music sphere. This one feels nice with a little hint of that electro Far East Movement sound so enjoy yo’ self with this one.

Here at FOC I enjoy shedding light on up-and-comers who embody talent and have crazy potential to become very successful. This right here is one of those moments. Reef, one-half of one of FOC’s favorites Fortune Family collabs with another up and coming talent and FOC soldier Dylan Owen on this incredibly impressive track. I love Reef’s delivery and flow on his verse that has a unique appeal I can’t put my finger on at the moment, as well as Dylan bringing his persona to the table as well, equally as effective. The production is absolutely on point and Grace nails the hook. Jon Kilmer is becoming the Scorsese of the “up-and-coming rapper” music video nailing the concept on this one. This is really an awesome project and I hope to hear more from these two artists as well as Dylan’s Keep Your Friends Close EP which I am definitely excited to hear.

Ok real talk everybody, finals has got me on some other ish right now. I thought I was ready to handle them but clearly I wasn’t. Academia has got the best of me because I am not sure where I am right now, what I’m studying, I actually feel drunk hence the TT title this week. Anyways I know posts have been delayed for a minute and Techno Tuesday is on the later side but it’s all good because as of Saturday this guy is back in the 914 for good and all is well. This sets’ headliner might very well for the first time be a Dubstep track, that is, Skrillex’s “Levels” remix so that might not even count. Unfortunately I was slow on the gun to get that up onto SoundCloud but hit up the DL link courtesy of SITR. Also this week we have a plethora of well done techno mash-ups from my boys Sex Ray Vision, Yoni, and Kap Slap that have been perfect for crushing study sessions as well as some fire vocal trance, a sick rock cover of “Raise Your Weapon” just cause it’s awesome, as well as James Blake’s official “take” on electro/dubstep on his track “Love What Happened Here” which to me sounds pretty decent and on the soulful side. After having to listen to him countless times at work this summer without any clue of what was going on in his music, I am starting to warm up a little bit to his more popular tracks but his sound is definitely an acquired taste so we’ll see where that goes.

It’s only right that I pull an Andy Reid now and say that the delays are on me because no doubt they are. My bad guys you know I love you and that Finals is the time where you need new music the most. Hang in there and look forward for new hotness coming your way.

PS. Just reviewed all of the vocal trance in here and it is absolutely fire, like Armin Van Buuren-eque ish up in here so if you aren’t familiar with the names of the tracks in the beginning of the set such as Project 46, Badisco or Shogun no worries because chances are it’s some vocal trance goodness. Also the “Tonight in Babylon” remix is not the finest quality but the best I could find. Still a must listen because it is definitely going to be an absolute trance banger when it drops. What’s the deal with this trance uprising by the way? As long as the vocals are decent I can’t complain, not too different from sounding like House if think about it.

Techno Tuesday (Dec 13th) by Fresh On Campus

Here is a snippet of WZRD’s debut single, “Teleport 2 Me” and I am definitely fuxin’ wit it. To me it essentially sounds like Kid Cudi’s interpretation of an R&B track which I am vibing with and it’s got a nice sample of Desire’s “Under Your Spell” from the movie Drive which was my jam…definitely gets this track nice. Love to see that goodness from my old friend Scott Mescudi and I now have hope for this project due out in January.

Teleport 2 Me by Fresh On Campus

For most of you this week is that turrible ish if you’re like me, as you are either gearing up are in the middle of Finals on that final push before break. It seems like such an impossible grind but luckily TT is here to help get ya right. This week the set is a little shorter but that is made up by one of the absolute best sets I have heard in a long time, that is Avicii’s set at the DC Armory a couple of weeks ago. If you remember I attempted to put in a past set but somehow was an epic fail so I apologize but now you have the real deal and it is something serious. A combination of new bangers mixed with old bangers with a new twist and finally other DJ’s bangers, this set has enough bangers to get you through your whole exam period. Also the pic this week is courtesy of my girl Emily absolutely killing it in the “Fresh” tee at the show which you love to see. Besides that I got some other dope releases including new new from Tim Berg AKA Avicii’s alter ego, Dada Life, and one of FOC’s go-tos Sex Ray Vision. Along with that dopeness is some electro-hop, some trance, and some dubstep for those guys. Overall good times I say, so put those headphones on and crush that academia…love to…but not really.

Techno Tuesday (Dec 6th) by Fresh On Campus

Why have I put up a set of absolute bangers on this Sunday Night? Don’t worry about it, just let it happen. This set contains the best mash of the year which is Mashup Germany’s annual mash of all the top tracks of the year, and to say the least this one is absolutely wild. It just meshes so damn well you can’t not love it. We also have Sex Ray Vision’s remix to the literally brand new Avicii eargasm “Fuck School,” as well as an awesome mash by DJ Benzi of Waka with Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso’s international smash, “Calling.” To end the set I have a nice house mix of one of my favorite tracks of the moment “Take Care” by Drizzy which gets you feeling right. Also make sure you check out the YouTubes of these two absolute BANGER T-Pain tracks off his upcoming album, “rEVOLVEr.” It definitely sounds like T-Pain is hopping on that Electro-Hop train and let me tell you it’s absolutely working for him…so much damn fire. Sunday Night Smangers (Dec 4th) by Fresh On Campus

Feelin’ Like Ooh by Fresh On Campus

This is an awesome video. I especially love this performance because the performance in itself represents one of the themes of Ye and Hov’s Watch The Throne: hip-hop’s infiltration in the culture of today’s high society. A classy and lavish spectacle such as the Victoria Secret Fashion Show is the perfect medium in the eyes of these icons to perform, nevertheless their track titled, “Ni**as In Paris.” I don’t know what’s funnier: the models and the people and the crowd’s reactions and dancing to the performance, or the huge smiles on Kanye and Jay’s faces because they know they are winning in every aspect of their lives, and the fact this performance took place confirms just how ridiculously locked in these rap moguls are in American popular culture. Although transparent to the audience, these guys are smiling because their staple as cultural icons is being shoved right in their face and they are loving every second of it.

Official CDQ’d and Mastered version of this West Coast banger off of Tyga’s Well Done II mixtape. Not sure if it’s similarity to Drizzy’s The Motto has helped the track but the beat is infectious as hell and a great pre-game track at the least.

Selling 630,000 copies its first week and claiming the top spot on the album Billboard Charts, it’s hard to argue that Drake is not having a good week. Oh man Gavin DeGraw’s single, “Not Over You” was my number one Boner Jam this summer, just cuts me to the core I hear it I can’t help it. Meanwhile, you know that there nothing Collin does better than absolutely crush acoustic covers, when you mix the two together I guess this is what you get but I still can’t think about it because my head will explode. This cover is too good it can’t be real. Like this is comparable to Drake going in on Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me” or Smash Mouth’s “All Star” hook, just wouldn’t be fair.

Here is the highly anticipated track off of Jeezy’s upcoming Thug Motivation:103 Hustlerz Ambition The track is pretty much what you expect from these three, just some classy goodness. I love me some Andre 3 Stacks so I may be bias when I say he kills his verse but chances are he definitely did. It’s that good good so go and cop it.

Drake – Over My Dead Body (Star Slinger Remix) by Fresh On Campus

Finally it is here. Not to be repetitive but like I have said a bunch of times on the site already I have been sweating Team OnCue since the beginning and it feels pretty good every time I see an artist I feel like I’ve known forever grow up right in front of my eyes. Can’t Wait is the next step in OnCue journey and growth as an artist and let me tell you it’s a huge one. OnCue is so special because he didn’t get to where he is today and achieved the success he has because of samples, rapping about frat parties and drinking games, or in any way market himself as a “college dorm room rapper.” What I love about Cuey is that since day one all he has been selling is himself. The production, the lyrics, the hooks…all him. Nowadays you see the heavyweights in Hip-Hop who have come down from their throne of rapping about their success and the money, cars, and clothes that come with it into this state of period of realness, digging into the emotional struggles that come along with fame (i.e.. Drake, Kanye). With this in mind it’s is so refreshing to see a kid like OnCue who has always rapped about what he has felt and has stayed real without having to dive into his own 808′s and Heartbreak stage.

With that being said, this is an impressive project that will go along way for Cuey. The kid is on to something substantial and will not be surprised if he lands a deal after this guy blows up, just sayin’.

When I first heard this track I was kind of like, “oh sweet MGK, another ignant trap song and you got Waka Flocka on it good for you,” but now my opinion has done a 180 on MGK. First of all I have to say that this video is absolutely hilarious, definitely made my day with shirtless Waka busting up Dad’s at the dinner table as well as Katt Williams subtle but oh so effective cameo that is awesome. The song has also grown on me as MGK’s style and overall “Lace Up” persona which I first perceived as obnoxious is now starting to earn my respect. If you look at this kid’s grind and journey and even look over the past year it is pretty amazing to see how far he has come. It is also no question he has some serious talent, just takes some time getting used to getting those shoes tied I guess.

On the newest from the Philadelphia-duo, Xaphoon goes in on this soulful sample and as always takes the track to the HNL. Rumor is the track was inspired by Chiddy’s brother, who one was deemed “Ray Charles” when he passed out one night after smoking with his sunglasses on. Some funny stuff, I would also love to see the freestyle sesh that followed that discovery. Breakfast is due out February 28 of next year.

On this track off of OnCue’s project Can’t Wait coming out tomorrow, Cuey shows us his soulful side on this R&B-esque track featuring Mr. Posner and I’m am not hating one bit. 88 Keys does a real nice job on the smooth production and gets the vibe just right. This is that good ish and getting me excited to see the rest of this tape, should be some good stuff.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Sammy and I am having trouble figuring out why. Following what was an immensely successful tour last spring and summer, Sam didn’t really follow it up with much and has a kept a low profile for what seems like a good amount of time now sans new music or any updates on his musical career. While coming out of left field, Sammy does what he does best making a catchy sing-songy party jam sampling, “Where Is My Mind?” by The Pixies made famous in the final scene of Fight Club. Not really sure if we should expect a follow-up track but we’ll take this for now, good looks.

Mark my words: Rihanna’s second single off of her upcoming album, Talk That Talk “You Da One,” produced by THE hit-maker Dr. Luke and written by Ester Dean, is an absolute hit. The reggae infused beat, with a little dose of dubstep mixed with Rihanna’s vocals is so damn infectious that you will be putting this guy on repeat for no less than a day. It’s just so damn catchy it hooks you right in. I think I am on my 15th consecutive time listening to this track on my iTunes and I don’t think it’s going to slow down anytime soon.

First off I got that new new “She Will” remix with newly freed T.I. going HAM on the verse…love to. Secondly, we have the resurgence of Juvenile on a surprisingly dope track featuring Mr. Rozay himself recovered from his current health scare. Did Drizzy help in this resurgence? Can’t know for sure but either way I definitely don’t hate it. Last but certainly not least Slim Thug is also on his comeback game with a real nice H-Town track with his Houston PIC’s Paul Wall (The People’s Champ) and UGK Legend Bun B. Another track that bangs so check this ish out STAT.

Hip-Hop Set (Nov 11th) by Fresh On Campus

Just when “I’m A Boss” was beginning to get repetitive as hell and starting to become annoying to the ears, MMG had to go and do an official remix and release something like this. Every feature on the track goes in, especially a real nice resurgence by T.I. to open it up as well as Tunechi as always. I will even include DJ Khaled in this with the two seconds of banter he drops in the beginning of the track…it’s all deadly. Just some rap goodness for your hopefully leisurely Wednesday night.

Techno Tuesday (Nov 8th) by Fresh On Campus

So as you may be aware Take Care in its entirety was leaked last night. After sometime contemplating whether or not to listen to the album before it’s official November 15th release I admit that I listened to the album. Without giving anything away I will tell you that Drake put everything he had in this project and the end product was absolutely wonderful. The album was everything I could ask for and more and you should be happy to know that everyone has a lot to look forward to come November 15th. You may ask yourself why if I enjoyed it so much I just post the link to the Leaked CD. I’ve thought about and I have made the decision that even though I know how much you will enjoy this album I could not include a link. If you follow music blogs like me you have probably seen that many are giving their reasons why and why not they are giving you a link to the album, so it is only right I do the same.

While part of my reason did have to do with the legal liability, my decision ultimately came down to my respect for Drake as an artist as well as my respect for you guys as fans. Working for a record label this summer I now fully understand how much goes into the behind-the-scenes of creating an album: the enormous amount of studio time, studio production, studio bands, equipment, the editing, the mastering, the PR, and the countless number of other things that go into taking someone’s art and turning it into a commodity for the masses to enjoy. If before my job I felt guilty promoting leaked music, now it feels somewhat immoral. That being said I also happen to be huge fan and supporter of Drake and respect the hell out of his music. You have heard and seen all of the interviews with Drake regarding the delays of the album and his how hard he was working on it, but that’s what everyone says right? The maturity and evolution of his sound in the past year has been astounding and although it is more common than rare for an artists music to be leaked, after listening to this album you can tell he put his heart and soul in this thing, from his the lyrics to the production. Seeing this get leaked is like witnessing one of your siblings ruining your dad’s anniversary surprise for your mom by telling her a week early…hate to see it.

Another aspect that’s holding me back is ruining the goodness for all you guys. I mean you can say that I listened to it early and love it so why can’t you. Well I hope that all of you know how to use that internet stuff and Google search the leak and find it in .2 seconds, that just won’t be on me, can’t have that on my conscience. I hold myself to be a good judge of good music and this is some good music and if Drake wanted you to hear it on November 15th it’s damn well worth the wait although from the comments above he doesn’t really seem to mind.

When the album ends you’re left feeling bittersweet, loving the brief experience of being inside the emotional roller coaster ride that is Drake’s life expressed through the realness of his songs, but at the same time sad it’s over and only wanting more, similar to the several addictions Drake raps/sings about on the album. This album is unique and arguably the best I’ve heard this year or even in the past couple of years. Whether you stopped reading this five minutes ago to download the album or are going to wait until the 15th, Drake makes the listener feel as though they are not only a part of something special, but most importantly real.

Yesss love it. My lady Dev just released this remix to her sick track”Kiss My Lips” and its fire. The Cataracs per usual did a great job making a banging production and Fabo does his thing nicely on a verse to take the track to the HNL. Some fine ish right here from a fine artist.

With that Lil B hype but with actual talent, ASAP Rocky might be that next big thing. ASAP is essentially marketing himself as the reverse Jay Electronica as an Uptown rapper with that Houston flow. Just signing a three million dollar deal with RCA, I guess this is working for him. With his video for his smash, “Purple Swag,” blowing up, the 23 year old rapper has been co-signed by the likes of Jim Jones and Drizzy Drake and was invited onto Drake’s Club Paradise Tour. With all this buzz around him the release of this anticipated tape is crucial and will be a tell tale sign what his next move will be. What do you guys think of ASAP? Hilarious new visuals courtesy of my favorite dudes out of Seattle. The song itself is pretty ridiculously awesome and the video goes right along with it. Awesome to see these dudes have a comical side, makes me like them that much more. Enjoy yo’ selves.

Watching this video made me think about the complicated relationship I have with Cudi at the moment. As of late I have been frustrated with Scott with his poor attempts to dive into Rock and the creation of his Wizard project, not to mention collaborating with Willow Smith on her upcoming album. Then he goes and does something as cool, and edgy and sick as this and it gets me thinking about all the reasons why I love the guy. I love those man because when it comes to being an artists he is so impossibly transcendent, casually walking in and out of cultural spheres without batting an eye and being totally comfortable. He is constantly pushing himself as an artist in all aspects and I respect the hell out of that. So can his attempt of being a sober rock star pushing be considered pushing himself as an artists and I am just hating because it has not panned out the way I wanted. Am I a hypocrite? Not sure but Cudi keep doing this kind of stuff because it’s your comfort zone to push the comfort zone.

We can definitely say that Omari rolls with the OVOXO crew and makes ominous but dope songs similar to Abel but besides that we have nothing. The visuals, not sure if official are not, are trippy as hell and the sound is on some crazy Far-East ish, so impossibly intriguing though.

This is awesome. Last week Coldplay covered Rihanna’s banger “We Found Love” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and it never ceases to amaze me how it seems like these guys can pull off anything. With Chris Martin putting his charm and Coldplay touch to the track, giving it a totally different sound, Coldplay crushes this cover. Having a sick week with the release of their new album Mylo Xyloto which is bomb, I love how good Coldplay at staying relevant for all these years and continuing to make great music that appeals to the fans. I’m going to call it right now if I’m not too late already, Coldplay will be around making great music for a very long time.

Paddy Quinn brings a darker feel to the video than we’re used to seeing from Mr. Stud’s videos but I’m loving the concept and how Mike is pushing himself as an artist, really cool stuff. Kinetics & One Love are great addition to the track fusing their style into Mike’s sound and making it one of my favorite cuts off the mixtape. FOC proudly presents gLAdiator, a Moombahton group out of LA that are on the rise and taking their talents across the country. For those of you who are not familiar with Moombahton is essentially a genre of electronic dance music that is slowed down to 108bpm. More importantly, Moombahton is yet another up and coming genre of electro to rage to and hopefully will be regularly added to the weekly Techno Tuesdays. With DJ Dillon Francis on the forefront, moombahton is currently being pushed more and more onto the electronic dance scene and getting some strong praise. Extremely talented, I have a feeling these guys as well will have an important part in bringing moombahton into the spotlight and will be making bangers in the not too distant future. Below I have posted my favorite one of their tracks, “Brand New,” as well as their just released “Torro Torro” that you guys need to check out. Wale’s latest title-track single off of Wale’s upcoming album Ambition is on some other ish. Unlike the rest of Wale’s stuff that I have been pretty skeptical about not going to lie I can confidently say that this track is absolute dirt. T-Minus has been so damn consistent in the the dope beats category and Wale along with Meek bring a new swag that I have yet to see from Wale that may actually turn me into a Wale fan. It could be because of the guidance of Rozay which never is a bad thing, but whatever way you slice it I am now kind of excited for the album to drop.

This blows my mind. So after a year of it’s “preview” being released, the official “Levels” single is finally dropping on October 31, arguably the international song of the year and an absolute instant techno banger classic. “Levels” has taken the Avicii’s career to the HNL even after “Seek Bromance” and has catipulted him as one the top DJs in the world as he was voted number 6 in the most recent DJ Mag poll. besides Guetta, one can easily point to Avicii as being one of the leaders of the popularization of EDM in the United States and it’s integration into the American Mainstream market, making Universal Records very smart in signing him and elongate the official release of this banger of all bangers. The Promo visuals above is absolutely unreal and really embodies how much of an International phenom Mr. Berg is what you will. Say what you want about Avicii and his constant flannels and how his sets are the happiest things in the world, the man is revolutionizing the the electro/house genre and pushing it into a new era.

Official visuals to Beyonce’s “Party” single plus J. Cole who is on the remix. This video just screams good times and am sure it was a lot of fun to make. J. Cole adds just the right amount of swag to balance the track just right but I wish Andre 3K could’ve made an appearance to do his verse…ish would have been dope.

Damn this refreshing. The combination of The Fray’s vocals from their Top 40 banger “You Found Me” over Tunechi’s “How to Love” instrumentals may or may not be one of the chillest mashes I’ve ever heard, ish just feels right. Straight enjoy yo’self on this one ya dig. Also on a totally different note, everyone needs to check out the video above, probably the most awesome thing I’ve seen all day. After debuting the track on Hot 97 on Tuesday, Mac gave MTV the honors of releasing the video for the third single off of his highly anticipated album, Blue Slide Park. I respect the fact that there are no features on the album and that it is straight Mac, but from the three singles so far I am finding it hard to believe that the album will live up to the hype and be on the level of his mixtapes. However Mac’s track have been known to grow on me so time will tell…

Oh damn. On this fire freestyle over Meek Mill’s “House Party” best, Wiz straight goes in. I am not the biggest Wiz fan and maybe it’s the beat but I get the vibe that Wiz brought his A game on this guy. And yes I know what you’re thinking…that’s a big ass hat.

Initiation by Fresh On Campus

This week’s Techno Tuesday comes with some fire to carry you through the dread of academia and into the leisure of the weekend no doubt. This set definitely has a different, but great more “laid-back” vibe to it as opposed to the usual TT thunderstorm of bangers coming out of nowhere. This week I have cut down the usual impossibly massive load of eargasms into a concise more fluid set that has more focus without sacrificing any quality. This includes the new Big Room smash by Hardwell, some of that new new from 3LAU that’s cray, and a new track from FOC regular Brenton Duvall who is back on the scene with a chill electro-fused mix that’s probably worthy of it’s own post (but honestly, most of these tracks are). It’s been out for a minute but if you need to check out the “Slaughter House (Tiesto Remix)” above, it is clear that Tiesto is still one of the best in the game constantly revitalizing his sound and always staying consistently with appealing to his fans and producing absolute bombs. I have also included a sickkk Alessio Silvestro remix to Calvin Harris’ smash “We Found Love” that may be the best remix I’ve heard yet.

Between my Fall Break sans computer, SoundCloud issues, and enjoying a wedding with family and friends, my consistency has not been of the essence the past few days. I know and acknowledge the criticism I receive about this site both constructive and utterly ridiculous, and I think it is important for me to let you all know that although I can’t promise you that I will always be by my computer 24/7 posting you the newest the music the minute it drops, I can promise you that I will always do the best I can to come as close to accomplishing that goal as I can. What makes Fresh On Campus so authentic is that it actually takes place and operates on Campus everyday. Balancing College Football, NESCAC Academics, and Blogging is no easy task, especially as a college senior looking ahead to the future, but everyday I gladly take this challenge head on with open arms because I love it and it’s what makes the site so real. I wish there were more hours in the day to do everything I want/need to do in a day (Shouts to Lon who I know feels me), but this is not the case. I know this is an absolute rant, but I just want you to know that I’m not perfect but care about the fans and it may not appear it but am absolutely dedicated to keeping you Fresh and making you’re day better with new music.

For all my FOC Soldiers who still remain true I love ya’ll, for those who have lost faith in FOC I am sorry and hope one day I can win back your support in the bright future that lays ahead for Fresh On Campus. Here are the highly anticipated visuals for Drizzy’s first single off of Take Care coming out October 24th. To be honest after first watch I am not sure how I feel about this video. There are some cool shots of Toronto and the song is infectious so it’s easy to go along with the spastic back and forth of scenes. Drake’s steez is also versatile in the video from him being a boss with a cigar and a crazy sweater to him rolling deep with his OVOXO crew rocking a black hoodie and Nike batting gloves, swag he jacked from my man Jaheim during his “Still Ghetto” days…just sayin’.

My favorite new artist and probably the most hyped up act in the game right now puts his production skills to the test and it will make Flo and Weeknd fans alike happy.
